The traditional household family has a man working, and the woman staying home to clean, cook, and care for the family. Who has the hardest job is not the question because they both work hard, but there has been controversy as to whether being a “SAHW” or “SAHM” is actually a job. < strong>I’m here to stay it is. Fortunately, there are options for women to work at home if that is the life they choose. I personally love the option to work remotely because you have time to clean, care for the family, and complete projects in peace and quiet. I have worked in the corporate setting for years, but that doesn’t compare to the time flexibility of working from home. The thing about women is that when you work in a corporate setting and come home for the day, we often step into our domestic shoes where we want to care for the family. Sometimes it can be a bit stressful, though, when you balance a corporate job, home business, and family responsibilities all in one. For that reason, many option to eventually transition to working from home so they can bring in a higher income and treasure that flexibility. But how can women (and even men, for that matter) bring money in from home? There are several options with direct sales, transcription writing, tutoring, and remote call centers. My favorite route, though, is creating a business out of what you love.< strong>Here are a few ways you can do that:< ol>
  • Write a list of the hobbies that you enjoy.
  • Cross-off the ones you do for fun, and don’t care about turning into a full-time commitment. Get it down to just three hobbies.
  • Prioritize those three hobbies and take one of two routes—choose one and offer products or services or figure out how you can combine all three to turn it into a sufficient full-time income.
  • Once you decide on what route to take, create a business plan. There are several templates online you can use to create a good plan and get your numbers straight.
  • Research the outlook of the industry. Find out who your competitors are and what the demand is in your local area.
  • Hone in on your craft. Read books, watch podcasts, and do research.
  • Network with people who sell similar products and services.
  • Figure out who your target market is. Research their likes, dislikes, and where they spend their time.
  • Decide how you are going to sell and promote your products. Include that in your marketing plan.
  • Create social media pages and a website. Make sure everything links back to your website.
  • Go get a business registration and/ or license.
  • Sell! Have fun promoting your business.

  • What do you do as a SAHM?
