Women in business: doesn't it have a nice ring to it? These days, women (and men alike) should feel empowered to seek out their dreams and do what it takes to capture them. Once you come up with an idea for a business, it is your responsibility to make sure it happens. It's not your husband's, your teacher's, or your coworker's duty to make sure you succeed; it is yours. And working at home? That's a whole new obstacle. You have to be ready for it. When you finally get an amazing idea to start making money, you have everything written out to the T.

You have charts on charts on charts, and twenty tabs pulled up on your laptop with informative articles, even though you have bookmarks saved in your favorites section. Why do we do that? We like to remember where we left things, and we like to be continuously inspired. After you have all the technical stuff worked out and everything is ready, that is when most people have issues figuring out where to start. Ironically enough, most people's demise is simply overthinking it. Don't overthink it. Just start!< strong>I'm here to show you how to do that.

  • Write a list of products and/ or services. Add pricing.
  • Get an idea notebook. Anytime you have an idea, instead of throwing all of them online and just confusing your readership, throw the thoughts in a notebook so you can come back to them.
  • Create a workspace for yourself. Make sure it is blocked off, and set designated hours for yourself everyday to work.
  • Set designated family time for yourself on a daily basis.
  • Clean the house and prep your meals in advance. You will save time and get much more done!
  • Decide what outfit you work best in. Are you more comfy in your pajamas or will you stay on task more in a nice button up shirt?
  • Write out your goals. Make sure they are objective and measurable.
  • Create social media pages.
  • Establish a website with a blog. (Do not use the blog to promote your products. Use it to connect with readers and show your expertise in the brand.)
  • Create a tagline. What do you want to be known for? Integrate that into your social media and website.
  • Start networking. Email people in your industry, ask for advice, and share ideas.
  • Create a post on Facebook and/ or Twitter letting your friends and family (warm contacts) know you are starting a new business and to let you know if there is anything you can assist with. Make sure to be quick, concise, and friendly.
  • Create a list of blogging topics.
  • Create giveaways and prizes to get things started.
  • Schedule social media posts and blog posts three days out.
  • Create a business and marketing plan.
  • Track your leads in Excel.
  • Track your sales.
  • Hone in on your craft. Watch informative videos and read instructional material to expand upon your knowledge.
  • Make changes. The business environment is ever-changing.

  •  As I have always said: get up, dress up, and show up. How do you intend to start your new business?
